AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH JT DAY. I think every day should be JT Day.

I thought about doing NaBloPoMo, but then I would probably end up with a one word post every day, and it would really clog up readers more than anything else. Good luck to you, you know I will be reading along.

Isn’t it time you do that recording on how to pronounce your name? That was a favorite of mine, and now it’s in bloggy heaven.

Peter — I know. I think I posted about three times in December last year as a direct result of having to post every day in November. And yet, here I go again. I obviously am crazy.

fathima — I know how to pronounce your name! I even know how to spell it in Arabic! I’m sure you know how to pronounce my name too. This obviously means we should be BFF. Also, I totally know what you mean about falling in love with people who say it right on the first try — I do the same thing. In my head I think “You said my name correctly. I love you.” It’s such a rare occurrence though.

Davidov — I love Seinfeld too.

fabulitas — I wish I knew more Polish. I went to Poland once and learned a little before I left, but it was a long time ago and at this point all I remember are the words for yes, thank you, good night, and beer. Anyway, I would be happy to send you some of our snow. If it doesn’t snow on Monday, it will soon. That is the way of Michigan.

wifey — I get made fun of for liking JT too. I can’t help it though. He has some really good songs.

4. No one has ever mispronounced my first name, because it’s short and there is a reasonable balance between vowels and consonants in it, but when we moved to a little town, I had to change school and on the first lesson the class tutor (is it the right word?) had to write my name down in some papers. She asked, what is my name. I answered. And she was like: Really? And I: Uhm, yeah? (What’s wrong with you woman? Do you think I don’t know my name?) It turned out, as my mum went for the parents meeting, that she didn’t believe me. And for half a year there was some Maria attending school.

What people do with my surname is a challenge for my patience. And I don’t want to talk about it.

5. I wish it snowed here. Everything, including Siberian snow storms, would be better than such an ugly autumn.

everyone pronounces my name wrong, so when people get it right without my telling them beforehand, i fall in love.
once when this happened the person with whom i fell in love later turned out to be a bit of a douche. so i’ve decided i need to reconsider my criteria for loving and naming.

I swear that last years go at it almost made me quit blogging for good.

(My main problem is not so much people mispronouncing my last name when they see it written down – although that’s happened – but people mishearing my name and writing it down wrong. In restaurants, they are always asking for “McMitt, table of four” or worse.)
