somewhere in a previous post you stated the Jamelah/tequila connection. i was a bit surprised because i had been pronouncing it incorrectly myself (to myself): i had a jah-MELL-ah or jah-MAYL-ah kinda thing going on, so i made a point of memorizing the correct pronunciation. perhaps better yet, i’ve never once referred to you as “Jamelah Tequila” in any sort of communication. so often what looks Cutesy Good on the screen immediately changes to Cutesy Bad once you click on Send. like my previous sentence.
So I’ve been seeing your name on Flickr for like 5 years now and I’ve been mispronouncing it the whole time (not that it matters, because I never actually say it out loud, but I’ve been saying it wrong in my head and that matters). I care because my last name ALWAYS gets mispronounced. Always. And because my last name looks like a first name, people always call me Denise, even though Kim ALWAYS appears first. I’ve never understood it, but it’s true.
Can I get you to make a video for my blog on how to pronounce my name? It would be so much livelier and more sarcastic than my staid little text explanation.
I almost feel obligated to mispronounce it now. I’ll try to resist.

Posted by Steven D. | June 2, 2009, 5:33 pmI totally get where you’re coming from. Totally.
P.S. It’s not “pretty” – thanks, though.
Posted by Preeti | June 2, 2009, 5:33 pmYeah, I say it like your Yiddish grandmother would if your name was Jamie.
The good news is you never have to hear it in my head!
Also, you’re pretty.
Posted by Chickiedoodle | June 2, 2009, 9:36 pmAre people Yiddish, or do they only speak Yiddish? Hmm….
Posted by Chickiedoodle | June 2, 2009, 9:37 pmThat was awesome.
Posted by Peter DeWolf | June 3, 2009, 8:16 amI prefer Jam-Jam or Jammers.
Posted by Kevin | June 3, 2009, 10:03 amI must admit the first time I saw your name I did the rhymes with Pamela thing. Sorry.
