sadly, i have not seen the wire. however, i do understand the need to hoard so as to prolong the enjoyment of a tv series or whatnot.

I suppose that works too — just as Netflix and its ridiculous genre suggestions can be the key to finding true love, it can also help us decide when to run away.

I dig the footnotes. It’s like you detonated a David Foster Wallace grenade all over your blog.

The first thing that would come to mind after hearing someone proclaim an unnatural love for ‘Visually-striking cerebral dramas’ would be that they enjoy being smacked in the head (instant word association … sorry), followed by the formation of a blinding headache as I try to figure out WHAT MAKES A DRAMA CEREBRAL, NOT TO MENTION VISUALLY-STRIKING, WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN, GOD, THE PAIN!!!!

A second date would probably be out of the question.

Cheryl — Yay, it’s not just me! I saw at least two of those Divas things… or one and a half. Did one of them involve Diana Ross? Am I making that up? Anyway, I didn’t know that they were resurrecting the Divas series and, um, Miley Cyrus? Really? Maybe I define the word “diva” differently than VH1 does, but don’t you kind of have to… I don’t know… prove yourself before you earn that status? In forty years, is anybody going to ask her to perform the national anthem at a presidential inauguration while wearing an insanely fantastic insane hat? Maybe, but you know, probably not. Having your own line of clothing at Walmart does not a diva make.

Here’s another not about The Wire. I totally remember that Divas episode (? There was more than one Divas, but I don’t think they can really be called episodes. Remember the one with BSB and Sting?) ANYWAY, I read recently that they are reinstituting the Divas and are going to include Kelly Clarkson, some British chicks and MILEY CYRUS. Really, VH1? Have we run out of divas with a capital D? Maybe these girls can possess diva-like behavior, but they in no way compare to Aretha or Celine, as much as I can’t stand Celine.

For some reason, this works me up a bit, apparently.
