So hey, you guys. I was tagged in this photo on Facebook, and ha!

I was four (or maybe three) when this photo was taken, and before last night, I didn’t even know it existed. Oh, the wonders of the internet, bringing back memories of more stylish days. (I believe I’m wearing a denim skirt and suspenders. Aw yeah.) If you didn’t go to school with me, and let’s face it, you probably didn’t, then you don’t know who any of these people are, and that’s fine. But the thing that kills me is that I know all these people, and even though I didn’t even remember this class, I immediately recognized all of them. And because I grew up in a small town (several elementary schools, one middle school and one high school), I graduated with almost all of them. The boy in the last row, on the left? He looked exactly the same when we graduated from high school, except he was much, much taller. Like, seriously. REALLY TALL.
Also, what am I doing in this picture? Why do I look so extraordinarily pleased? I can’t quite tell because it’s blocked by that one kid’s head, but where is my hand? Is it on the leg of the boy next to me? For real? Because I think it might be. Or I was trying to hold his hand? Either way, I was pretty happy with my situation, it seems. Anyway, the boy whose leg I may or may not have been feeling up was named Santos but I thought it was Sand Toast. I did not understand why he would be named Sand Toast, but I thought it was so cool. Imagine my disappointment when I learned I was wrong.
That boy in the back with the glasses? He was my neighbor. He used to pick dandelions and leave them on my porch. Yep.
I think I was a player.

Posted by Levi | November 14, 2009, 1:45 pmI can’t believe it. This very well may be the oldest representation of the jameleo-centric model of the solar system.
Posted by sisyphus | November 14, 2009, 6:46 pmI DID go to school with you (although, not this far back) but I didn’t recognize most of those people. I did a couple by face, but I couldn’t put a name to any of them.
Of course, it’s been a long time since I’ve thought much about the folks back in ole’ Albion, so it’s not entirely surprising I don’t remember any of them.
Posted by Matt | November 14, 2009, 7:40 pmLevi — Aw you Facebooked me.
sisyphus — Ha! Brilliant.
Matt — Also I was a year behind you so maybe that accounts for part of it. This is random, but I was thinking about you the other day, specifically, I was thinking about The Foreigner, because I’m trying to work something about Buddy the Chipmunk into a blog post. Also also, I work with your brother now. Sort of. He’s in a different office than I am. But still. Weird.

loving the new ‘do AND the NaBloPoMo. thanks, Jamelah.
p.s. just noticed Glen & Markéta on your last.fm. have you seen the Swell Season dvd?
Posted by Steven D. | November 15, 2009, 1:12 amSo…why did he STOP leaving dandelions on your porch? Not that I’m suggesting you were at fault. No, of course not. Just wondering.
Posted by greg | November 15, 2009, 3:11 pmSteven — Nope, I haven’t.
Greg — I believe that’s exactly what you’re suggesting. He stopped leaving dandelions on my porch because my mom and I moved across town and he wasn’t my neighbor anymore.
