yeah, ok, update:
i wish that something interesting was happening to me, but alas, nothing. really. well… i did turn 23. i suppose i could say a few things about that…
right, then. my birthday is september 11th, and that’s all very well and good… this year i left the tv off and had a good time, so that was good. my grandmother came over for awhile and she wanted to dispense some dating/marriage advice to me, since i am such an old spinster and all. but instead of advice, it just turned into all these stories about when she was dating my grandfather, and it was hilarious. my favorite part:
grandma: he kissed me in the milking shed
me: was anybody else there?
grandma: no, i don’t know. it was dark in there.
me: uh huh… dark, eh?
grandma: well, we didn’t have electricity then, so we had to carry lanterns for light.
me: and you didn’t take a lantern with you?
grandma: well, no…
yep. quality.
what else has been going on with me? well, i’m reading bret easton ellis’s american psycho because i’d been hearing all this recent talk about it. which is kinda weird, since the book came out in 1991 or so, and the movie’s a couple of years old, too. but anyway, i’m reading it right now (well not right now) and i’m about half finished with it and i still haven’t decided if i like it or not. though i do keep reading, so i guess that says something positive. it kinda freaks me out, the murders are all super full of gore, the sex scenes are all super full of sex, and….well, this main character has got to be the most shallow schmuck i’ve ever read about. i know it’s fiction, and a satire at that, but seriously. a whole chapter about genesis? in which i am supposed to take phil collins seriously?
come on.
ummmm…. my mom bought me this bridget jones guide to life thing. it’s a thin book with all sorts of handy survival tips. which is nice, since i think that if bridget jones weren’t:
a. fictional
b. british
c. completely obsessed with the movie fatal attraction
we could’ve been separated at birth. but since she is fictional, british, and completely obsessed with the movie fatal attraction, then, well, um….no. but we are both clumsy dorks who have a penchant for fucking up relationships. even though i do this in real life. and i’m just going to shut up. but the book is funny, which was my point before i went off on this tangent that i should be deleting.
ok, and now i’m going to get back to work. ciao.
