9 in 10 think i’m witty, and other observations

Published by jamelah at 11:27 pm under Everything, Me me me

Yo.  I have a post planned for tomorrow (or the next day, depending) that should be up to my usual standard of tear-inducing brilliance.  Really.   But I’m in a weird mood today, not a bad one, just a weird one, so I don’t think I can do it justice.

So, thanks to those of you who participated in the Johari window thing.  As I thought it would be, it was interesting to read your observations, especially since the majority of things you picked weren’t on my list.  I grinned at “bold” and “confident” (chosen by 3 people each), because I don’t see myself that way at all.  When I think about what I’m like, I tend to see myself as somewhat awkward and self-conscious.  There’s this discomfort in my skin I picked up sometime during my adolescence that I’ve never quite been able to get rid of, but I think I’ve gotten better at hiding it as I’ve gotten older and I tend to compensate for my neverending sense of 12-year-old dorkiness (braces and all), by being funny.

Is this sounding too much like therapy?  Sorry.

I don’t mean to disabuse you of your notions of me… maybe I’m not actually as much of a helpless nerd as I think I am.  I’m really pretty quiet, shy even, at least until I know you, and then I may possibly be able to talk you to death if you’d let me.  People who know me well can probably verify this.  At least the ones who are still alive.  Muahahahahahem.

If I were to sum myself up in three words, honestly, I’d pick “smartass goofball nerd” but none of those were options, which I think is a limitation in this whole Johari window business.  But anyway, thanks for playing along.  It was something like getting two days of compliments, which turned out to be surprising and sorta fun.  I think I like the way you see me.

If I’d known the rules, I would have picked something fun like “religious” so I could be an outlier. Well, maybe next time.

Well there’s always next time. I mean, probably not, but still.
