i bet you thought this wouldn’t be about the blogathon

You were so wrong.

I’m awake now, at least slightly, and I thought I’d take care of some final housekeeping things while I’m coherent enough to think of them. So. If, based on your pledge amount, I owe you a phone call or a mix cd or something, please get in touch with me with your phone number and/or mailing address so I can follow through (provided you want to claim these prizes… and if you don’t want to claim them, well, that’s up to you). Also, there are a few unclaimed questions/haiku, so if you want those, be sure to send your requests and I will get to them.

I think that was all I forgot to mention yesterday. If I think of something later… well, let’s just hope I don’t think of something later. I promise to catch up on e-mails and stuff soon enough. Until then, I’m going to go lay on the couch and nap through film adaptations of Jane Austen novels. Because I know how to party.

Peace out.

Oh, by the way… a note on phone calls:

I used to do these back in the day on the LitKicks message boards (back when LitKicks had message boards) when I had some minutes to burn. I had a couple of guidelines? rules? things in place that made it all not creepy and generally entertaining, and I think I’ll carry those over now. Like so:

1. E-mail me your phone number and let me know when would be a good time for me to call. After I call you, I promise to delete the e-mail and forget your phone number forever and ever. And if, say, you’ve got caller ID and my number shows up on it, I’ll expect the same courtesy from you, because this is a one-time deal. Ships that pass on the phone. You understand.

2. Expect the call to last in the 10-15 minute range. This isn’t meant to take up a huge chunk of anyone’s day.

3. And a final suggestion — have at least an idea of something you might like to discuss. (Provided it isn’t what I’m wearing, or anything… because, um, no. I mean, I’ll definitely be wearing something — maybe a HAZMAT suit, or a leisure suit, or perhaps a suit of armor, most likely not a bathing suit, however — but it’s not worth talking about.) Conversations (at least if I’m involved in them) generally end up kind of random and somewhat weird, but it helps to have a starting point. I mean, unless you want it to go like this:

You: Hello?
Me: Hi.
You: Hi.
Me: So, how’s it going?
You: Okay.
Me: Neat.
You: …
Me: …
You: …
Me: …
You: …
Me: Yeah.
You: Yeah.
Me: So. This is cool, huh?

Exactly.

And there you go.

I don’t know, J. I think it might be hard to top the phone conversation we already had. If I could remember it. I would still like some sarcastic Yiddish haiku. And is there any substituting something else for the phone call, like fruit for french fries? I’m kinda jonesing for some Jamelah jewelry.

So uhm… Are the folks from blogathon going to contact me? Or do I just go to the site… I can only vaguely remember them telling me they would send me an email…

You guys made being a monitor a blast and I’m glad you ended up on my team. And since the charities can’t show you the love I’ll fill in for ‘em ::hugs:: See you again next year! Good luck and blessings, Prana
