hey, where did my weekend go?
You know how it is… You spend all week waiting for the weekend (because everybody’s working for the weekend!) and then the weekend is over before you get to do anything very weekend-ish. Yesterday I spent the day working, as My Place of Employment was heading up a community beautification effort, so I was painting all day. Well, no, actually I was painting for about 30 minutes at the end of the day. The rest of the time I was telling people what to do. Oh, and carrying very, very heavy things (like boxes full of gallons of paint, and a water cooler, and very large buckets full of river water). Yes, my shoulders are still sore, thanks. And because I got sucked into volunteering to help this youth group get a drama team off the ground, I spent a sizeable chunk of the day today working on that. I’m actually excited about this one, though, because it combines several of my favorite things: working with kids to bring out and channel their natural creativity, theater, and me being bossy. It’s only been one day, but it’s already a lot of fun (we worked on a skit this afternoon, and I swear, I haven’t laughed so hard so genuinely in a long time). I also gave my dog a bath today, which is more adventure than a person needs, ever. She’s still mad at me.
Anyway, here it is, Sunday night. I sort of feel like I need a weekend to recover from my weekend, but time doesn’t work that way. Which just goes to show you that time is a stupid bastard.
In other news, I’ve listed a bunch of new stuff over at my Etsy store (including some beads, clasps, and leather beading cord). My summer of being an unemployed college student* is looming before me, so you should go buy things. Mama needs ramen noodles.
*Yes, I know I can get a job, but I am fantasizing about unemployment. Not having to work: my greatest dream in life.

You know, if the bath thing keeps being a problem for Sweet Pea you can try spray painting her. They love that. I read that somewhere. Was it Cosmo? I forget now.
what is the skit about?
I feel the same way about my weekend, but at least you did socially responsible stuff — all I did was go to Target and CompUsa. And watched a lot of TLC. Can we officially call you the Drama Master now?
Ditto on the where’s the weekend dude. And it was so gorgeous! I should’ve been on a beach, or on a stoop, with Corona on hand.
Are you taking a educational leave of absence, or just leaving your job? Summer in Ann Arbor is So. Much. Fun. A friend of mine is subletting a place right downtown… the better to stalk Jamelah while in school. I mean - stop by!
Linus — Spray paint. Good idea. I always wanted a silver dog.
wifey — Well, they have this after-school special aspect to them. This series is about how to be a good friend, and each one focuses on something different within the theme.
Caryn — Yes, I think you should. I’d be worn out if I went to Target and CompUSA too.
tiff — Send me an email… maybe we can have a beer this summer.
