story challenge
In December 2006, I challenged my readers to write a story incorporating the following elements:
Title: Baby’s in Reno
Elements:
– Nine ladies dancing
– A photograph that’s been torn in half
– A snow globe
– A fake beard
– BaconBonus points for: not setting your story in Reno. Not that there are actual points, but still.
The response was small, but worthwhile, which means that there were two highly worthy contenders: Srah of srah blah blah and Caryn of the metafictional blues. After consulting with a panel of judges that I recruited expressly for judging purposes, because I am a non-judgmental wimp apparently (who knew?), and it turns out that they are all as non-judgmental as I am, by and large. So, the winners of the first-ever jamelah.net holiday story challenge contest are Srah and Caryn! Hurrah! Read the stories, love the stories, comment on the stories. They really are both very fun in totally different ways.

Now I’ve had the time of my life…
Baby’s In Reno, by Caryn
Further adventures of Tito, the talking chair.
And then, here are two more stories which were ineligible for winning, since one is by me and the other is by my mom, but you should read them and love them too.
Baby’s In Reno, by Jamelah Earle
Vibrators and death, just not at the same time.
Baby’s In Reno, by Anniefay
The adventures of a church secretary…
Okay then, that wraps it up. Enjoy!
