this is the part where i tell you i am going to kick out the jams

It’s November, and for the past few years, I have participated in NaBloPoMo, wherein I post every day of the month to my blog. I’ve had a debate with myself all day long about whether or not I’m doing this again this year, mainly because how do I think I’m going to manage a post a day for an entire month when my combined total of blog posts for the whole year up to this point is something like… 17. And yet, maybe because my combined total of blog posts for the whole year up to this point is something like 17, I should do something wacky and write a post every day.

So, you see, back and forth, all day long. But I have finally decided. I have missed my blog, and the exercise of writing things in this space, dropping a few sentences here for people to find if they wanted to find them. So I’m going to go for it. I’ve done crazier things, after all. I think I have a theme, even. I may not; I really just settled on this project about 10 minutes ago, so I probably have to think about the notion for a little while before deciding whether or not I am for real about the theme thing, you guys, but in the meantime, let me just tell you that it feels like I have been busy lately, though I couldn’t exactly tell you with what. As I’ve kind of fallen off the face of the internet (other than keeping up with the photo-a-day thing, which I’m kind of proud of continuing even though I’ve mostly been retreating into a private, quiet space this year), I’ve gotten out of the habit of a lot of the things I used to do, but I’m trying to slip back into those habits, maybe one at a time. And while on the subject of things I used to do, I used to write once a week (mostly) for Utata, choosing a photo that a group member submitted to the pool on Flickr and writing some accompanying text to put on the site’s Front Page. I’m on a Front Page sabbatical, and have been since, oh, March, but one cool thing I want to tell you about is that we put out a book of selected Front Pages. Not a greatest hits collection so much as a “Hey you guys, these are pretty good, if we do say so ourselves” collection. It was a fun project over the past several months, and it became available on Blurb in October. I have a copy and it’s beautiful. Really really just a beautiful collection of photographs and words. It’s one of those things I’ll be proud of for a long time.

(Of course now we are onto our next sorta at present top-secret project. Exciting!)

Anyway, yeah, the book is super cool:

So there’s that.

Okay, I know this isn’t the most exciting of posts, but hey, I wrote one, and that has to count for something.

Until tomorrow, then.
